Marbella remains in ALERT LEVEL 1

Updated: Apr 4, 2023

The Public Health committee of the province of Malaga announced this Thursday that the Costa del Sol health district will remain at alert level 1 for Covid-19 meaning that no municipality, including Marbella, will be able to go to the normality phase

The alert level 0 ‘normality phase’ announced by the Junta de Andalucía, will allow the withdrawal of all restrictive measures for trade and hospitality and represent a return to normality. However, it has been decided to keep practically the entire province of Malaga at health alert level 1, which still does not make it possible to completely withdraw the measures that reduce capacity and hours to fight Covid-19.

Marbella maintained this Thursday an accumulated incidence of 122.6 cases, one of the highest in the province which means we will have to wait at least one more week to be able to see all the restrictions removed.

However in areas in both alert levels 0 & 1, theatres, concerts, auditoriums, museums, bullrings and venues with local, provincial or regional sports competitions will be able to complete 100% of their capacity.

At both levels, the basic safety and hygiene rules such as the use of a mask and the maintenance of the greatest possible interpersonal distance must continue to be respected. Crowds should also be avoided and the entrances and exits of crowded areas should be carried out in an orderly manner.

The Public Health committee evaluate the accumulated incidence at 14 days but also other indicators such as the rate in people over 65 years of age and the occupation of hospital beds and in ICUs, among others.

The Committee of Experts has agreed to return to normality in primary care in the public health sector meaning that patients can visit the doctor in person where previously only telephone consultations were allowed. Patients will still have the choice of a consultation by phone if they wish.
